AFA AZ Summer Cactus League Venues

Good Morning Coaches & Administrators-

I want to congratulate the following teams who will be participating in our AFA Summer Cactus League Championship games this evening at Cactus Yards!!!

12u:
Rancho Johnson MJ (8-0 ; Home team)
Desert Reapers (7-1; Away team)

14u:
Arizona Storm-Rodriguez (7-0-1 ; Home team)
AZ Suncats-Benz (6-2; Away team)

16/18u:
Rancho Softball (7-0-1 ; Home team)
TN Mojo-Bryant (6-1-1; Away team)

Please be sure that your rosters are who you submitted before our halfway point (rosters locked after the 4th game of season).

***Champions of the league will be awarded the option of two team prizes:
1. Brand new sublimated team uniforms (roster size or up to 15-can buy more if you would like and pay the additional cost per uniform top)
***Your team will coordinate the sizes, graphics, team name, numbers, and name on back with our distributor and I will pay the vendor directly and have shipped to the address of your choice***
2. A team tournament credit of $250.00 for an upcoming AFA Arizona event hosted by Stacey Stepek


Thank you to everyone who participated in the league and for allowing our new umpires under UICs (Marcus Jones & Xavier Bush) the opportunity to train/develop and get live reps in our league play to prepare them for games and tournaments. Without our young officials coming up in the game, we would not be able to continue supporting all of the events in Arizona.

Our next annual league will be January-March 2026 for our 10u, 12u, and 14u age groups. Registration for that will open up on Friday, September 12th and spots will be limited :)

Please keep in mind, championship games for each age division based on results, will be played on 9/11. Please track your teams progress and make parents players and coaches aware that they might be in the bracket game, depending on league seedings come week 8 :)

Good Afternoon Coaches-

If there are any 12u teams who can stay to play Rancho MJ @ 7:45pm , we are looking for a team to pick up and extra game.

LEGIT is forfeiting their game against Rancho-so Rancho will get a 7-0 win for the game, but if anyone wants the live reps-I will keep the umpire on as scheduled and you can still play a pick up game.

Tuesday, August 26th games are Cancelled. We are working on finding dates to reschedule and will notify you all once we have those locked in.

Good Afternoon Coach-

Thursdays games scheduled on DBACKS will be moved to SPORTSMAN for field maintenance.

***Reminder: league rosters will be/are locked after completion of your 4th game. Please make sure that no new players are added after that scheduled date/time.

Seeds for league will be determined by:
Record (Wins-Loss-Tie)
Head-to-Head
Runs Allowed
Runs Scores

***1st and 2nd place seed will play a Championship game and winner will receive either new team uniforms for up to 15 players OR a Tournament/League credit of $250.00 to another AFA Arizona (Stepek) event

***Keep in mind that when playing in the league, if we have adverse weather, any games that go 1 hour in time and/or 3 innings, constitutes a full game and will not be scheduled for make up
(we are sorry for any confusion that happened while our league director, Anna, was out of town handling a family emergency)

Tonight's games that were scheduled for DBACKS will now be on SPORTSMAN due to Cactus Yards Park field maintenance.

Please note that with increased temps today and tomorrow, we are allowed free substitutions, timeouts, water breaks, etc whenever players/coaches/umpires need them.
Air conditioned restaurants are available if players need to cool off in between innings and are open for guests/spectators.


***For any teams not paid in full for the league, please be sure to submit final payments by Friday, August 8th at 5pm.

Before hitting the dirt tonight (or your first game this week), please remember to:

1. Check in with Anna McCray (league director) inside the restaurant by your field
2. Bring with you: PRINTED/SIGNED roster form, proof of current and up to date team insurance, and please make sure you have your team membership for AFA for this season ($45.00 online fee-Order # is your membership number on confirmation email)

***Update for tonight's field schedule:
I was informed by my maintenance manager this morning that we need to switch today's game on Dbacks to Sportsman. There are some maintenance needs after the weekend that are preventing the Dbacks field from being used. It should be ready to go for games on Wednesday. Please notify your teams and the umpire of the new field assignment. I appreciate your assistance

Thank you for your patience while the schedule was finalized and everyone's preferences were taken into consideration.

If you see any issues, or I have over looked a preference that was sent, please reach out to me directly so that I can try to fix the issue. I did my best to accommodate everyone's requests and spread out the schedule so that teams could get live reps in during league play, and also practice time in at their regular fields.

Please complete the attached PRINTED roster/waiver form with signatures and be sure to include all possible subs/players. Finalized rosters will lock after completion of your 4th league game. Please make sure all players are added/removed from your roster by that point in time & that no players from other teams playing in the league are on multiple rosters. Players must be locked to one roster only.

Before your first scheduled game:

***Marcus Jones, Xavier Bush, and James Edmunds will be training new AFA umpires during this league season. Some games you will have one plate umpire, and others you may have 1 plate and one base (one in training).
Please be mindful of this and know that these young/new blues are the future of our sport-so please be kind and patient with them as they learn, grow, and evolve into professionals in our sports supporting our youth

League Reminders:
All games will be 1:30 no new inning
Unlimited subs
Bat entire lineup
Courtesy runner for pitcher/catcher (sub off the bench or last batted out)


Team listed first on the schedule will take the 1B dugout; team listed second will take the 3B dugout. Coin toss for home/away at home plate meeting & roster exchange.

Please bring your own first aide kit and ice packs for your team

***After completion of your 8 regular season games, we will take the top 2 teams to compete in a Championship game for first place and the league's 1st place prize of new team uniforms/practice tops (up to 15 tops; additional can be purchased-see Stacey)***
